THE UPRISING

POEM
One by one, we calmed down
But our unrest was clear
Our faces never lost their frown
We knew the end was near

We’ve been bystanders for far too long
Watched bad deteriorate to worse
We’ll find and again beat the gong
And we’ll rid us of this honeyed curse

We Sing ballads every now and then
As we give our patience a deserved rest
Today, we’ll announce ourselves as men
This time, we’ll put our foes to the test

We know failure can very well happen
But we’ll fight on anyways
Our courage surge as the floodgates open
At least, we’ll be heroes for a day

From one of our finest writers Nnanyielugo
